FEED YOUR SKIN: WITH THESE SUPER ORIGINAL CARROT RECIPES

Estimated reading time: 2 minute(s)

Carrots are one of the most well-rounded vegetables as they contain a variety of vitamins from different groups as well as iron, potassium, and phosphorus. They have beta-carotenes, a fundamental compound of vitamin A: pigments that help give our skin a more orange tone, and now that summer is coming it’s something many of us are craving (though, it is not the same tan as we have come to know). Vitamin A is also great for our eyes and is highly recommended to prevent diseases such as cataracts. All of this is why we are offering you five very different carrot themed recipes with the most well- known orange vegetable: a tart, pizza, pancakes, smoothie, and a puree.

Spinach Quiche with a Carrot Based Dough

Have you ever used carrot as a dough before? Well, in this tart the carrot is used as exactly that it replaces the typical puff pastry and the spinach is used as the creamy topping. This base is made with carrots, nuts, and quinoa flour, which makes this recipe gluten-free. Also, the spinach filling includes different types of cheese mixed together with an egg and hazelnuts, so this dish is also a good source of protein.

If you add our beef jerky on top, you will get the best combination of marinated and dried beef flavor and a crispy texture that gives all dishes that extra touch. The key to this recipe is that the carrot base is first baked in the oven until golden and compact, then it’s filled with the spinach and cheese filling and put back into the oven.

The Ultimate “Fit” Pizza: Sweet Potato & Carrot mini-pizzas

These mini-pizzas are also designed to use carrots as the main ingredient of the dough. This dish is mixed with two flours: buckwheat and almond also making it a great option for those who are gluten-free. In addition to the carrot, this dough is also mixed with sweet potatoes which are a good source of fiber and other vitamins.

The rest of the ingredients to complete your pizza are up to you! However, we recommended mixing your favorite topping with arugula. It gives it that extra fresh and crispy touch, that is sure to leave you craving for more. Don’t forget to add the arugula once you’re done making the pizza in the oven. It’s really important to prevent it from drying out.

Gluten-Free Carrot Pancakes

Nobody can resist a spectacular pancake recipe. They are as juicy as they look in the photo and even more delicious. The base of the dough is made with almond or oat flour which is then mixed with yeast giving it that fluffy texture. The carrots are grated raw so you will be sure to enjoy all of their vitamins and it also gives the pancakes a pleasant texture.

The toppings can be made to each person’s taste. Either with some raw carrot tossed on top, or a with a bit of greek yogurt.  You can also use cream cheese, like in the photo here. And if you want to go even further and add some extra protein, try slathering some of your favorite nut-based cream on top.

Carrot, Orange and Tumeric Smoothie

A delicious healthy smoothie with only 4 ingredients. It’s impossible to get any easier. It’s made with a carrot, orange, some turmeric, and a natural sweetener either coconut sugar or maple syrup.  It’s the perfect snack to up your daily intake of fruits and vegetables especially if you have children who are usually averse to such foods. The best thing is that this recipe uses the whole orange, so we get all the benefits of fiber and vitamins and not just the fructose. If you like sweets, add some natural peanut butter on top.

Beetroot & Carrot Puree

Pure de Remolacha y zanahoria

And finally, one of the most traditional options. A super simple recipe for a beetroot and carrot puree where you can add some milk or a little cream for extra consistency.  Beetroot is another vegetable with many properties. However, not everyone knows how to incorporate it into their recipes. This puree is a perfect, quick-solution recipe to have a delicious dinner or side dish waiting in the fridge for whenever you feel like.
