Yesterday was international chocolate day! I celebrated this treat that we all go crazy for, by preparing this tasty cashew and cacao vegan drink.
Plant based drinks are a great daily alternative. They are even better when you can make them yourselves at home using 100% natural products with zero added sugars. This particular recipe is one of my favorites, mainly because of the rich taste that the cacao gives it.
Plus, cacao has been shown to have healthy properties due to the presence of flavonoids. Flavonoids are antioxidants that have important health benefits for our cardiovascular system.They also help protect our cells from free radicals which prevent aging, and provide benefits to the health of our brains by improving memory and other cognitive processes. That said, let’s get to work !
Cashew and Cacao Vegan Drink
- 150 gr of cashews
- 1/2 a jar of water with ice
- A pinch of sea salt
- 1 + 1/2 tbsp of Cacao Powder
Throw all the ingredients into a blender. I use the ice to make my drink more refreshing.
Blend everything on high until you get your desired texture. I would start with less water and work your way up and you might prefer your drink to be thicker or not.
And, that’s it! It’s ready to serve and enjoy!
It’s a great idea to add your own personal touch to this drink by adding on a topping of your choice like, grated coco, crushed nuts, or even little pieces of cacao.
